1 SLES for SAP Applications

1.1 What's New?

1.1.1 SAPHanaSR Tolerates Cluster Foreign HANA System Replication

The SAPHanaSR Resource-Agent now fully supports a cluster foreign SAP HANA system replication ("Chain").

1.1.2 HANA Firewall Package

Hardening HANA installations is now easily possible with the Tech Preview of the HANA Firewall package shipped with SLES for SAP Applications 12. It comes with a comprehensive documentation which outlines its usecases and setup instructions.

1.1.3 Support of New SAP CD Metadata Format

The SLES for SAP Applications 12 Installation Wizard now supports the new SAP CD metadata format used on the SAP installation media. Please upgrade your copies of the SAP CD installation media to leverage the new features that the Installation Wizard now provides.

1.1.4 SLES 12 Compatibility

SLES for SAP Applications 12 is based on SLES 12 and provides all related features. Choosing 'Standard Installation' as boot option allows you to install a regular SLES 12 operating system.

1.1.5 Resource Agents for SAP HANA System Replication Automation

The included Resource-Agents SAPHana and SAPHanaTopology provide control over SAP HANA Databases which are configured in a System-Replication Scenario. As of today SCALE-UP (Single-Box) will be supported, which means system replication from one single primary database node to one single secondary database node.

1.1.6 Installation Wizard Automation

The Installation Wizard has been enhanced with the functionality to read the required system information from a configuration file that can be pre-filled according to the environment. Also, the Installation Wizard now creates such a configuration file after finishing an interactive installation, to allow for easy replay of an installation in an automatic way and to have a template configuration for the Installation Wizard. The template configuration can be adapted for installation on other machines.

1.1.7 Support for n-Tier SAP Installations Through the Installation Wizard

The Installation Wizard now allows installations of multi-tier architectures, e.g. SAP Central Instance and Database Instance on different systems. In addition, the installation of additional SAP Dialog Instances is possible to extend the existing SAP system landscape.
