Novell Inc., (Nasdaq: NOVL) today announced a strategic partnership with Software AG to accelerate the adoption of Linux in the XML database software market.
Under the agreement Software AG will develop a solution stack based on Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 and its Tamino XML Server and its EntireX Mediator integration product.
"Critically, under this agreement, Novell provides partner support for our SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 to Software AG, which will enable it to realise significant overall projects cost savings," said Johan Rosius, Vice President, Alliances, Novell EMEA. "Also, the addition of Software AG as a Novell alliance partner is another important step toward driving the adoption of Linux in Europe's XML database market. It also serves to extend our alliance partnerships with the region's leading ISVs to provide a complete technical services and support structure across all platforms to speed the adoption of Linux in the enterprise."
"As a company, we have two overarching goals - to focus on the development of our Enterprise Transaction Systems business and our XML Business Integration suite," said Karl-Heinz Streibich, CEO Software AG. "This partnership with Novell is particularly significant as it underpins our XML Business Integration suite with the best of breed SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9. Novell not only leads in Linux technologies, but its service, support, testing and proving expertise is second to none.
