Product Description
The IBM System x3850 X6 server is a four-socket 4U rack-mounted server that represents the sixth generation of the IBM Enterprise X-Architecture®. It delivers innovation with enhanced scalability, reliability, availability, and serviceability features to enable optimal performance for mission-critical databases, enterprise applications, and virtualized environments. The x3850 X6 packs numerous fault-tolerant and high-availability features into a high-density, 4U rack-optimized lid-less package that helps to significantly reduce the space that is needed to support massive network computing operations and simplify servicing. The x3850 X6 supports up to four Intel Xeon E7-8800 v2 high-performance processors.

Config Notes

Desktop Effects: Graphics driver/adapter does not support desktop effects.
Power Management: Hibernation / Suspend to Disk / ACPI S4 is supported on this system.
Power Management: System/Processor does not support dynamic CPU frequency scaling.
Sound: Recording on an external microphone is not supported on this system.
Power Management: System does not support standby.
Floppy disks used on this system must be manually mounted. To do this, perform the following steps first: a) run "mknod /lib/udev/devices/fd0 b 2 0" b) add "/dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto,users,rw 0 0" to /etc/fstab, c) run command "mkdir /media/floppy", d) reboot. Thereafter, whenever a floppy is inserted, run command "mount /dev/fd0" to mount the floppy drive. After mounting, any query of the floppy drive status (such as "hwinfo --floppy") will state that there is no medium in the floppy drive. However the floppy disk can be accessed as normal for reading and writing.
Install: PXE Boot, OS Installed via Network.
Power Management: System/Processor supports throttling.
