SUSE YES Certified for the following products:
Operating Systems:
| SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server 11 for x86 Service Pack 3 for SUSE® SLES 11 |
Product Description
The Cisco UCS M1414 Compute Cartridge is a single-socket server using Intel® Xeon® E3 1200 v3 CPUs, with 32 GB of DDR3 1600 MHz memory. The high-frequency CPUs used in the Cisco UCS M1414 M-Series cartridge are ideal for electronic design automation and simulation (EDA or ECAD). The Cisco UCS M1414 Compute Cartridge is part of a growing line of compute options for the Cisco UCS M4308 Modular Chassis, bringing high-frequency CPUs to a high-density, scale-out deployment model.

Config Notes
- Headless configuration - no graphics adapter. System configured using IBM remote Hardware Management Console (HMC) for graphics, keyboard and mouse.
- Required configuration: SLES 11 SP4 will run in POWER8 Compatibility mode. 'Compatibility mode' simply means that the POWER9 processor with SMT8 will act as though it were a POWER8 processor with SMT8
- Install: The SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server install was performed using a network install method.
- Kdump: the crash kernel reserved memory parameters were changed based on the content in the following knowledge-base article: http://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=3374462.
- Power management: The System/Processor dynamic CPU frequency scaling functionality in SLES is not supported on POWER9 with PowerVM as this functionality is provided by the POWER9 with PowerVM hardware its-self.
