Product Description
A building block for the Lenovo PureFlex System family, the Lenovo Flex System™ x440 Compute Node is a four-socket Intel Xeon processor-based server optimized for high-end virtualization, mainstream database deployments, and memory-intensive high performance environments. It is price-performance optimized with a wide range of processors, memory, and I/O options to help you match system capabilities and cost to workloads without compromise. With a dense design, the Flex System x440 Compute Node can help reduce floor space used, and lower data center power and cooling costs.

Config Notes
- Install: System installed via network PXE UEFI boot; the OS was installed using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration. Tested as a 2-node scalable partition with 8 Compute Books. Hard disk configuration: RAID 1. Xen Hypervisor: the hypervisor was booted with following additional parameters: dom0_mem=10G dom0_max_vcpus=10.
- Kdump: the crash kernel reserved memory parameter must be increased from the default value for kdump to function correctly.
- VM Driver Pack: All guests were tested with PV drivers installed. The SLES drivers are included with the OS. The Windows 2012 R2 drivers are available from http://download.suse.com (VMDP-WIN-2.2.exe).
- SR-IOV: System was tested using SR-IOV where a virtual network adapter was given to the SLES 12 FV guest and another virtual network adapter was given to the SLES 11 SP3 x86_64 FV guest. Two Intel I350-T4 ML2 GbE adapters were used in this testing.
- Maintenance update: SLES 12 Xen kernel update 333 is required and was installed on the host during certification testing. SLES 12 kernel update 333 was installed on SLES 12 FV guest, SLES 11 SP3 kernel update 10103 was installed on SLES 11 SP3 x86_64 FV guest. 64-bit guests were tested with a maximum memory configuration of 64GB.
