Product Description
The Lenovo Flex System™ x240 Compute Node is a high-performance server that offers outstanding performance for virtualization with new levels of CPU performance and memory capacity, and flexible configuration options. Now available with Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v2 processors, the x240 Compute Node is an efficient server designed to run a broad range of workloads, armed with advanced management capabilities that allow you to manage your physical and virtual IT resources from a single pane of glass.

Config Notes

Kdump (SLE12SP3): the crash kernel reserved memory parameters were increased from the default to crashkernel=172M,high crashkernel=122M,low using YaST.
Install: System installed using PXE network install; the OS was installed using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration. Disk configuration: HDD single disk RAID 0 and M.2 boot device two disk RAID 1. Xen Hypervisor: the hypervisor was booted with and requires the following additional load parameters: dom0_mem=8G dom0_max_vcpus=4 (parameter values can be changed).
SR-IOV: System was tested using SR-IOV where a virtual network adapter was given to the SLES 12 SP3 FV guest. One of the integrated Ethernet Connection X722 for 1GbE adapters was used in this testing.
VM Driver Pack: All guests were tested with PV drivers installed. The SLES drivers are included with the OS. The Windows Server 2016 drivers are available from http://download.suse.com (VMDP-WIN-2.4.exe).
