Product Description
The IBM® System x3630 M4 server offers a cost-effective high-capacity storage solution with exceptional energy-smart design, leadership virtualization, and powerful systems management. It supports up to two Intel® Xeon® processors and high-density memory designs with twelve DDR3 DIMM slots. This 2U server consolidates storage and server into one system, offers easy management, and saves floor space and power consumption, allowing for less cost than traditional enterprise offerings. Designed with redundancy, flexible subsystems, and a wider range of configuration options, the x3630 M4 also offers an innovative Feature on Demand (FoD) design for an easier upgrade path.

Config Notes
- Install: System installed via network PXE UEFI boot; the OS was installed using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration. Storage configuration: separate RAID 0 drives. Tested as a 2-node scalable partition with 8 Compute Books.
- Xen Hypervisor: the hypervisor was booted with and requires the following additional load parameters: dom0_mem=64G dom0_max_vcpus=12 (parameters are required, the specific values can be changed).
- SR-IOV: System was tested using SR-IOV where a virtual network adapter was given to the SLES 12 FV guest. One of the Intel X540 ML2 10GbaseT adapters was used in this testing.
