Product Description
The IBM SurePOS 500 is a sophisticated, sleek point-of-sale (POS) system. It has an innovative touchscreen interface that is designed to enable rapid, convenient transactions, while withstanding the harsh food service and retail environmens. IBM offers the SurePOS 500 systems in 12-inch and 15-inch versions. To better accommodate the needs of clients in the specialty, gas and convenience market segments, and to further extend the IBM retail product family, IBM also offers a 17-inch model. This larger screen provides an expanded viewing area. It allows you to see more information simultaneously in real time, such as gas pump icons or consumer facing kiosks, along with standard POS applications used in your store.This Model does not have presence sensor and audio jacks.

Config Notes
- Install: The SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server install was performed using a network install method.
- Headless configuration - no graphics adapter. System configured using IBM remote Hardware Management Console (HMC) for graphics, keyboard and mouse.
- Kdump: the crash kernel reserved memory parameters were changed based on the content in the following knowledge-base article for ppc64le: https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=3374462
- Power management: The System/Processor dynamic CPU frequency scaling functionality in SLES is not supported on Power11 (PowerVM) as this functionality is provided by the Power11 hardware itself.
- CPU: This system is a 4U Rack unit configuration with 2 CPU sockets. The Power11 2.8--3.95 GHz CPUs tested each have 30 cores (DCM) and with SMT8. Totaling for the system 60 cores or 480 vCPU threads.
