Product Description
Oracles's Sun Netra X4270 M3 server is an x86-based carrier-grade system ideal for demanding network infrastructure workloads and cloud-based deployments. This reliable, scalable and easy to manage server is designed to meet the increasing requirements of Telco networks for more compute power, memory and I/O bandwidth.

Config Notes

Install: System installed via network PXE UEFI boot; the OS was installed using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration. Hard Disk Configuration: JBOD. System was scaled up to 4-socket by joining two x880 X6 with 4S scalability connector.
SR-IOV: System was tested using SR-IOV where a virtual network adapter was given to the SLES 12 x86_64 guest. One of the embedded Four-Port 10GB Virtual Fabric Ethernet LOM adapters was used in this testing.
VM Driver Pack: All FV guests were tested with PV drivers installed. The SLES drivers are included with the OS. The Windows 2012 R2 drivers are available from https://download.suse.com/ (VMDP-WIN-2.2.exe).
Xen Hypervisor: the hypervisor was booted with following additional parameters "dom0_mem=140G dom0_max_vcpus=28".
Maintenance updates: Linux Kernel 527 updates were installed during certification testing.
