Config Notes
- Install: System installed using an external USB DVD drive; the OS was installed from DVD using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration. Hard disk configuration: single SATA hard disk connected to on-board SATA HBA, M.2-two SSD configured as RAID1.
- Kdump (SLE12SP2): the crash kernel reserved memory parameters were increased from the default to crashkernel=156M,high crashkernel=112M,low using YaST.
- Installation Kit: The lenovo_servers_thinksystem-sle12sp2-x86_64-1.0.iso installation kit is SUSE SolidDriver Program compliant. This installation kit must be downloaded and used to start the SLES installation. To obtain the installation kit go to: https://drivers.suse.com/lenovo/Lenovo-ThinkSystem/sle-12-sp2-x86_64/1.0/.
- SR-IOV: System was tested using SR-IOV where a virtual network adapter was given to the SLES 12 SP2 FV guest. The Intel Ethernet Connection X722 adapter was used in this testing.
- VM Driver Pack: All guests were tested with PV drivers installed. The SLES drivers are included with the OS. The Windows Server 2016 drivers are available from http://download.suse.com (VMDP-WIN-2.4.exe), the virtio network drivers were used during testing.
