Powered by latest AMD Opteron 6 Core Processors, the HP ProLiant DL785 G6 is the next generation server of the award winning HP ProLiant DL785 G5. HP ProLiant DL785 G6 is an 8 socket x86 server, supporting up to eight Six-Core AMD Opteron Processors, 512GB of memory, 11 PCI-e I/O slots or an optional I/O backplane with 7 PCI-e & 2 HTx I/O slots. With this highly expandable feature set, the DL785 G6 is an ideal choice for the growing enterprise class database, consolidation and virtualization environments seeking to improve server utilization and reduce server and virtualization sprawl, while continuing to leverage all the familiar and easy to use ProLiant management tools and options.

Config Notes

Install: System installed via network PXE UEFI boot; the OS was installed using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration. Hard Disk Configuration: JBOD. System was scaled up to 8-sockets by joining four x880 X6 with 8S scalability connector.
Serial/USB/VGA port(s): provided through KVM connector console breakout cable which supplies one RS232 serial port, one VGA port and two additional USB ports.
Kdump (SLE15): the crash kernel reserved memory parameters were increased from the default to crashkernel=316M,high crashkernel=172M,low using YaST.
