Product Description
The new Sun Fire X4170 M2 is a robust enterprise class server that packs excellent price/performance, maximum energy and space efficiencies in a dense 1RU form factor for running IT infrastructure applications (file/print, DHCP, security) as well as collaborative applications (email, enterprise 2.0) either in datacenters or at departmental sites or branch offices.

Config Notes

Serial/USB/VGA port(s): provided through KVM connector console breakout cable which supplies one RS232 serial port, one VGA port and two USB ports. The system also has one internal USB port. The two integrated BCM5718 dual-port network adapters are sold as a single Lenovo Flex System EN2024 4-port 1Gb Ethernet Adapter.
Install: System installed via network PXE UEFI boot; the OS was installed using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration. Hard Disk Configuration: RAID 1. Xen Hypervisor: the hypervisor was booted with following additional parameters: dom0_mem=8G dom0_max_vcpus=4.
Kdump: the crash kernel reserved memory parameters were increased from the default to "crashkernel=167M,high crashkernel=122M,low" using YaST.
VM Driver Pack: All FV guests were tested with PV drivers installed. The SLES drivers are included with the OS. The Windows 2012 R2 drivers are available from https://download.suse.com/ (VMDP-WIN-2.3.exe).
SR-IOV/PCI Pass-through: Current system configuration does not support network SR-IOV or network PCI Pass-through.
