Sun Blade™ X6270 Server Module: Powered by the Intel® Xeon® Processor X5560, the Sun Blade X6270 server module helps customers scale their compute resources without adding complexity. The Sun Blade X6270 server module leverages PCIe2 technology to provide up to 270Gb/s of ultra fast I/O bandwidth. With its 18 DIMM slots and four drive bays this two socket blade server offers streamlined management, breakthrough performance, and superior energy efficiency to run the most demanding workloads including Web, enterprise, database, grid and virtualization.

Config Notes

Hard Disk Configuration: RAID 5.
PCI Network Pass-Through: System was tested using PCI pass-through where the network adapter was given to the SLES 11 SP3 x86-64 guest. An added network adapter,Intel® PRO/1000 PM (82571EB) Dual-Port Gigabit Ethernet Controller, was used in this testing - this adapter was using the standard SP3 e1000e driver.
VM Driver Pack: All FV guests were tested with PV drivers installed. The SLES 11 SP3 drivers are included with the OS. The Windows 2012 drivers are available from http://download.novell.com (VMDP-WIN-2.1.exe)
Install: System installed using the internal DVD drive; the OS was installed from DVD using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration.
