Product Description
The PRIMERGY BX960 S1 server blade enables the use of the next generation Intel® Xeon® processors with up to 8 cores and two threads. In conjunction with the QuickPath architecture and the on-chip memory controllers, these processors enable a greatly increased Server Blade performance in contrast to the predecessor generations. Four of these processors can be used in the BX960 S1 Server Blade, together with up to 32 DDR3 RDIMM main memory modules and two Dual-Channel Intel 82599 based 10 Gigabit Ethernet controllers onboard. Up to two SSD data media and four Mezzanine I/O cards complete this full-height server blade (single width). The perfect alignment of processor performance, main memory capacity and I/O bandwidth makes the PRIMERGY BX960 S1 ideal, on the one hand as a consolidation platform with virtualization solutions, on the other hand, as a server which efficiently and reliably meets the high-level requirements for database management systems for medium and large-sized databases. Config Notes

Installation Kit: The lenovo_servers_thinksystem-sle12sp2-x86_64-1.0.iso installation kit is SUSE SolidDriver Program compliant. This installation kit must be downloaded and used to start the SLES installation. To obtain the installation kit go to: https://drivers.suse.com/lenovo/Lenovo-ThinkSystem/sle-12-sp2-x86_64/1.0/.
Install: System installed using the internal DVD drive; the OS was installed from DVD using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration. Disk configuration: HDD and M.2 (boot) drives configured as separate RAID 1. Xen Hypervisor: the hypervisor was booted with following additional parameters: dom0_mem=16G dom0_max_vcpus=16.
Kdump (SLE12SP2): the crash kernel reserved memory parameters were increased from the default to crashkernel=172M,high crashkernel=122M,low using YaST.
SR-IOV: System was tested using SR-IOV where a virtual network adapter was given to the SLES 12 FV guest. One of the integrated Ethernet Connection X722 for 1GbE adapters was used in this testing.
