Product Description
Oracle's Sun Blade X6240 Server Module is the first two-socket AMD Opteron™ (quad-core) blade for use in the Sun Blade 6000 and 6048 Modular Systems. A fast, reliable, and expandable x64 blade server that runs SLES 11, the Sun Blade X6240 Server Module is a key component in standardizing your infrastructure, helping to lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and simplifying data center management, all without compromise. Powered by two AMD Opteron™ (quad-core) processors, up to 6 (x8) and 2 (x4) PCIe Interfaces, and up to 128 GB of DDR2 system memory, the Sun Blade X6240 Server Module provides the compute power and I/O expandability required to meet your needs now and into the future.

Config Notes
- Install: System installed using the internal DVD drive; the OS was installed from DVD using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration.
- PCI Network Pass-Through: System was tested using PCI pass-through where one of the host network adapters was given to one of the SLES 11 SP3 x86-64 guests. An added, Intel® 82573E Gigabit Ethernet Controller adapter, was used during this testing.
- VM Driver Pack: All guests were tested with PV drivers installed. The SLES 11 SP3 drivers are included with the OS. The Windows 2012 drivers are available from http://download.novell.com (VMDP-WIN-2.1.exe), and the virtio network drivers were used during testing.
- Hard Disk Configuration: RAID 0.
