Config Notes
- Headless configuration - no graphics adapter. System configured using IBM remote Hardware Management Console (HMC) for graphics, keyboard and mouse.
- Install: The SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server install was performed using a network install method.
- Kdump: the crash kernel reserved memory parameters were changed based on the content in the following knowledge-base article: https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=3374462. Kdump (SLES11SP4): the crash kernel reserved memory parameter was changed to crashkernel=16384M-:8192M for kdump during certification testing.
- Power management: The System/Processor dynamic CPU frequency scaling functionality in SLES is not supported on POWER8 (PowerVM) as this functionality is provided by the POWER8 hardware itself.
- Maintenance updates: The following updates are required to the Kernel (12869), Kexec-tools (12962) and Kdump (12411). https://download.suse.com/Download?buildid=abdTREGeaIw~

- Kernel-bigmem for SAP HANA environments on ppc64: Kernel-bigmem is required to be run on a system with more than 1024 logical CPU threads, which in this case IBM Power System E880 was configured with 192 physical CPU core with SMT8 resulting 1536 logical CPU threads. Also, ppc64 systems with more than 1.5TB of main memory; for specific support, configuration and memory requirements please read the following knowledge base web link. https://www.suse.com/de-de/support/kb/doc/?id=7018408.
