supportconfig crashes when run on an LPAR with huge pages configured

This document (7023991) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 Service Pack 1 (SLES 15 SP1)
IBM Power (ppc64le)

Situation

On an LPAR with 16GB huge pages configured and the "crashkernel" configured to also use memory from huge pages, supportconfig crashes with something like the below excerpt:

...
unable to handle kernel paging request for data at address 0x1ffffc000080
Faulting instruction address: 0xc00000000031e690
Oops: Kernel access of bad area, sig: 11 [#1]
...

Resolution

Do not use huge-page memory for kdump or fadump while reserving the "crashkernel" value. Only system memory configured at the partition are recommended to be considered as a "crashkernel" value and this should also be less than the configured partition system memory.
