smt mirror returns "Data too long for column 'DESCRIPTION'".

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP2

Situation

The issue was seen with smt version: smt-3.0.27-51.1
When syncing channels with SMT, the following error may be displayed for certain repositories:

2017-08-01 21:44:58 SMT::Mirror::RpmMd - [info] Updating patch data in the database (476 patches)
2017-08-01 21:45:25 SMT::Mirror::RpmMd - [error] Error getting patch data from repository: DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Data too long for column 'DESCRIPTION' at row 1 at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.18.2/SMT/Patch.pm line 386.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, please update to SMT version smt-3.0.29-52.5.2.

Cause

The size of the column DESCRIPTION of the Patches table is too small.
