Undefined Method getDefaultMountBy Editing Boot Loader Section in AutoYaST File

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 Service Pack 1 (SLES 12 SP1)
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12

Situation

When attempting to edit the boot loader section of an autoyast control file that was opened in the Autoinstallation Yast Module, the following error is observed:

Error: Internal error. Please report a bug report with logs.
Details: undefined method 'getDefaultMountBy' for nil:NilClass.
Caller: /usr/share/YaST2/modules/Storage.rb:6921:in 'GetDefaultMountBy'

A similar error appears in /var/log/YaST2/y2log.

To duplicate run
1. yast2 > Miscellaneous > Autoinstallation
2. Select File > Open > Select your autoyast control file > OK
3. Select Modules > Boot Loader > Edit

The error is observed most of the time. Occasionally no error is observed.

The problem does not happen on SLES12 SP2.

Resolution

The issue has been reported to engineering. The current resolution is to upgrade to SLES12 SP2 or higher.
