SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

You have a Hitachi SAN connected to a SLES10 System.
After connecting the cable while the Fibre Channel Controller module is loaded and/or during
boot there are many (max. 16384) "Ghost Devices" per Controller that are not needed or used.

These devices can be found in

Notification for discovery can be found in

the Blacklist entry "HITACHI","OPEN-E", "0x1000240" is the reason for that behavior.

The Flag bit "0x1000000" (PQ3) works different on SLES10 compared to SLES9 and SLES8.

With the use of the kernel-cmdline"scsi_mod.dev_flags=HITACHI:OPEN-E:0x20240"the PQ3 bit for the OPEN-E Devices will be reset und the "ghost luns" are not shown.

So you edit in

the entry for the kernel commandline and append

then you reboot and the "ghost luns" are gone
