Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server For SAP Applications 15 SP2
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server For SAP Applications 15 SP1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server For SAP Applications 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server For SAP Applications 12 SP5
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server For SAP Applications 12 SP4
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server For SAP Applications 12 SP3
Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines on-demand
Amazon EC2 on-demand
Google Compute Engine on-demand

Situation

Live Patching is included with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server For SAP Applications (SLES For SAP) on-demand offerings in Amazon Web Services EC2, Google Compute Engine, and Microsoft Azure for 12 SP3 and later instances and images.

Instances created from images with a date stamp of 20200827 or later in the image name will automatically setup the Live Patching repository upon instance creation.  For instances using earlier images, live patching repositories will need to be activated.

Resolution

No additional registration code is required to activate this extension on PAYG (pay-as-you-go) SLES for SAP cloud instances.

With that in mind, follow the instructions in our official Kernel Live Patching documentation to enable it:

https://documentation.suse.com/sles/15-SP4/html/SLES-all/cha-klp.html#sec-klp-enable-cli

Example command to activate KLP on SLES for SAP 15 SP4:

# SUSEConnect -p sle-module-live-patching/15.4/x86_64
