SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 SDK Service Pack 2 Release

This SDK supports application development for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server (SLES) 9 (both Service Pack 2 and 3). To provide you a comprehensive build system, this SDK includes all the open source tools that were used to build the SLES product. It provides you, as a developer, ISV, or IHV, all the tools you need to port applications to all of the platforms supported by SLES.

The SDK also contains IDEs, debuggers, code editors, and other related tools. It supports most major programming languages (including C, C++, Java, and most scripting languages).

For your convenience, the SDK includes multiple YaST® and Perl packages that are not included in SLES.

Installation: Gain access to the SDK directly with 'YaST'

Adding 'https' installation source in 'YaST' to download and install binaries for each platform without downloading the iso image:

  • Login as 'root'.
  • Open a terminal window.
  • Use the following command:

  • /usr/bin/installation_sources

  • After submitting the command successfully the following message will be shown:
    • Installation Sources: SLES SDK Version 9-SP2

  • Open 'YaST' | 'Change Installation Source'.
  • Find the added installation source being listed
  • Open 'YaST' | 'Install and Remove Software'.
  • Filter on 'Selections' and you will find 14 new package groups appear for the SDK

Note: Adding the SDK installation source using YaST -> "Software" -> "Change Source of Installation" will not work. Please use the command above to add the SDK installation source and then use YaST to view and install the SDK packages.
