scatool fails to analyze supportconfigs with xz compression

This document (000020253) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12

Situation

After supportconfig started using xz compression, the scatool fails to extract and analyze them. It returns the following error:

> sudo scatool scc_sles15sp1_210218_1001.txz
################################################################################
#   SCA Tool v1.0.8-21
################################################################################

Supportconfig File:           scc_sles15sp1_210218_1001.txz
Extracting Supportconfig:     /var/log/scc_sles15sp1_210218_1001.txz
Error: Invalid supportconfig archive

> rpm -q sca-server-report
sca-server-report-1.0-2.17.noarch

However, the supportconfig archive extracts correctly with tar or xz and is a valid archive.

Resolution

Update to sca-server-report-1.0.1-4.3.1 or higher on SLES15. The issue is reported to engineering for SLES12.

Status

Reported to Engineering
