SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 4

Situation

This is a collection of Knowledge Base articles to help you upgrading from SLES11 SP4 to SLES15

Resolution

Please do all steps in the listed order, only if the current step already work go on to the next one. Only if the feature described in one step i not used, go on to next step.

Things to do prior trying the upgrade
- apply all available updates to SLES11 SP4 (requires LTSS)
- verify system after applying all updates
- take a complete backup for possible rollback if something goes wrong
Things to do during the upgrade
- it is required to apply updates during upgrade, a installation from media only will lead to additional issues, as upgrade related bugs are only fixed via online updates.
