YaST gives "segmentation fault" errors on all YaST modules

This document (3863613) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10

Situation

Using the GUI or ncurses method of YaST produces "segmentation fault" errors, regardless of which YaST module is invoked.

Examples:
# yast2 online_update
YaST got signal 11 at YCP file Wizard.ycp:47
/sbin/yast2: line 276: 17044 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base
$module "$@" qt $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2QT_ARGS

#yast online_update
/sbin/yast: line 276: 17214 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base
"$module""$@" ncurses $NCTHREADS

# yast2 ldap
YaST got signal 11 at YCP file Wizard.ycp:47
/sbin/yast2: line 276: 17124 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base
$module "$@" qt $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2QT_ARGS

# yast2 nfs
YaST got signal 11 at YCP file Wizard.ycp:47
/sbin/yast2: line 276: 17159 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base
$module "$@" qt $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2QT_ARGS

Resolution

Old yast2-ncurses and yast2-qt rpm's were being used.
Updating to the latest released rpms fixes this problem.
