SUSE Acquires OpenStack IaaS and Cloud Foundry PaaS Talent and Technology Assets from HPE to Accelerate Growth and Entry into New Markets

SUSE has entered into an agreement with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to acquire technology and talent that will expand SUSE’s OpenStack Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution and accelerate SUSE’s entry into the growing Cloud Foundry Platform as a Service (PaaS) market. The acquired OpenStack assets will be integrated into SUSE OpenStack Cloud, and the acquired Cloud Foundry and PaaS assets will enable SUSE to bring to market a certified, enterprise-ready SUSE Cloud Foundry PaaS solution for all customers and partners in the SUSE ecosystem. The agreement includes HPE naming SUSE as its preferred open source partner for Linux, OpenStack and Cloud Foundry solutions. In addition, SUSE has increased its engagement with the Cloud Foundry Foundation, becoming a platinum member and taking a seat on the Cloud Foundry Foundation board. Learn more

SUSE Poised for Greater Growth in Software-defined Storage Market by Acquiring openATTIC Storage Management Assets from it-novum

As part of its growth strategy, SUSE has acquired software-defined storage management assets from German IT firm it-novum, including openATTIC, the open source Ceph and storage management framework. The acquisition allows SUSE to accelerate its use of openATTIC as the management framework for SUSE Enterprise Storage and will help the company deliver simpler, more cost-effective enterprise storage management solutions. As part of the transaction, a team of highly skilled open source engineers from it-novum has joined SUSE. Learn more

Powered by newly released OpenStack Newton, SUSE OpenStack Cloud 7 includes new Container as a Service (CaaS) capabilities, along with non-disruptive upgrade capabilities to avoid downtime and service interruption. SUSE Enterprise Storage 4 Solves Large Data Storage Dilemma for Customers

SUSE Expands Reach of Certified OpenStack Administrator with
SUSE Exam Platform

SUSE has expanded the reach of the OpenStack Foundation’s Certified OpenStack Administrator certification by increasing the number of platforms on which candidates can take the COA exam. As announced at SUSECON in November 2016, OpenStack professionals are now able to take the COA on a SUSE platform. This allows those who have taken SUSE’s OpenStack administration training to take the COA exam on the same platform they used to learn about OpenStack. The additional exam choice will increase interest and expand the number of COA professionals in the marketplace.
