Breaking News: SUSE Cloud 2.0 Launch

OpenStack Grizzly-based SUSE Cloud 2.0 for deploying and managing Infrastructure-as-a-Service private clouds is now available. This new release offers support for mixed-hypervisor environments, a more robust installation process, new storage and networking features and fixes, improved integration with SUSE Manager and SUSE Studio™ as well as a broader ecosystem of partner solutions. Service Pack 3 Now Available for More SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Products and Extensions.

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Real Time Extension 11 SP3. This new version reduces the latency and increases the predictability and reliability of time-sensitive, mission-critical applications. Learn more
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Point of Service 11 SP3. New features deliver improved reliability, security and robustness; easier management; wireless operation of point-of-service clients; and improved integration with SUSE Manager. Learn more

Updated SUSE Manager Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager—Launched. SUSE and Microsoft have announced the next release of SUSE Manager Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager. The product allows a Windows administrator to patch both Windows and Linux servers via the same console, saving time and money. Watch the demo.


Partner Update: Cloud Coverage

Huawei-SUSE Partnership Answers the Call for a Reliable, Flexible Telecom Platform. China’s telecommunications giant, Huawei, recently launched its third-generation, carrier-grade application platform, Advanced Telecommunications Application Environment (ATAE) 3.0, with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as its optimized operating system.  Read more

Collaboration with Dell, Microsoft, and Cloudbase on SUSE Cloud 2.0 Enables Mixed Hypervisor Clouds. Cloudbase Solutions, Dell, Microsoft and SUSE have made SUSE Cloud 2.0 the first OpenStack distribution to add full support for Microsoft Hyper-V.  The new product simplifies, standardizes and automates the setup of mixed hypervisor clouds, allowing organizations to optimize workload performance while lowering licensing costs. SUSE Partners with Unisys on Forward! by Unisys. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is now certified and supported on Forward! by Unisys, a fabric architecture based on Linux and the Intel x86 platform. Combined with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension, Forward! by Unisys provides a flexible, cost-effective environment for running critical business applications and workloads for UNIX migration, cloud and big data. SUSE Extends Partnership with VMware into the Cloud. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for VMware, the only Linux distribution bundled with VMware vSphere, will be available through VMware vCloud Hybrid Service in Q4.

SUSE and CADsoft: A 20-Year Partnership. The SUSE and CADsoft partnership recently marked its 20th anniversary. CADsoft, a developer of 3D modeling software for the residential and light construction market, uses SUSE Linux Enterprise Server to develop its products and offers it as an operating system for its Eagle products.
