Allow a user to log in when their home directory is missing

If you administer Linux machines where the home directories are mounted from remote servers then you may have experienced the annoying situation where one of those servers goes down for some reason and as a result some people can’t log in to the Linux machines with a full GNOME session.

This guide explains how to configure machines running SLED 11 to allow a user to log in with a full GNOME session even when their home directory cannot be mounted from the remote sever.
