As a quick recap, SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 Service Pack 2 (SLE 12 SP2) was built to be an innovative Service Pack, and we took the opportunity to bring new shiny features like the jump to Linux kernel 4.4, GNOME 3.20, support for 64-bit ARMv8, and more. For more information please check out our Press release, and our Release notes for SLE 12 SP2.

With SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 Service Pack 3 (include SLES, SLED and SLEHA products) we are providing a more consolidated Service Pack Release, focusing on two main goals:

  •  Deliver all fixes and updates introduced since SLE 12 SP2 release,
  •  Select set of non-disruptive features and new hardware support driven by partner and customer requirements.

Additionally, with this release we plan to establish a yearly release cadence for SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 Service Packs, support more product migration paths from previous releases to SP3 for flexibility (e.g. skip a Service Pack), and again provide numerous selected enhancements across our tools and SUSE Linux Enterprise package base.

We are thankful for your support in trying out our beta products and we welcome your feedback.

We will of course post more updates about our SUSE Beta Program via blog posts, announcement in our beta mailing lists, and dedicated web pages.
