At BrainShare 2011 in Salt Lake City, Michael Miller, VP of Global Marketing & Alliances noted in his keynote that SUSE recently joined the OpenStack community. SUSE intends to bring to market a commercially supported cloud infrastructure solution based on OpenStack and SUSE Linux Enterprise. You can catch Miller’s keynote on SUSE’s YouTube site.

The OpenStack project is a global community of technologists, developers, researchers, corporations and cloud computing experts whose mission is to enable any organization to create and offer cloud computing services running on industry standard hardware and software.

As the emerging open standard for cloud infrastructure, OpenStack is a perfect complement to SUSE and the enterprise products and services its customers and partners rely on to run mission-critical workloads on Linux. By integrating its award winning tools such as SUSE Studio and SUSE Manager with its OpenStack-based cloud solution, SUSE will simplify the deployment and management of an OpenStack-based cloud infrastructure for its customers.

SUSE is bringing its global community of developers and nearly 20 years of experience successfully commercializing enterprise-class Linux and open source solutions to OpenStack’s 125-and-counting company membership roster. Customers can look forward to more news as SUSE’s OpenStack participation helps enterprises better capitalize on the cost and flexibility advantages inherent in the cloud, while at the same time addressing the risks and complexities of cloud computing through the development of affordable open source solutions.
