IBM SWG uses SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as the base for their software running in the Amazon EC2

The IBM Software Group ( http://www.ibm.com/software ) has always been a key ISV partner for SUSE; indeed, most of the IBM applications are available, certified, and supported on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server or Desktop. However, the SUSE-IBM relationship is at a different level than plain certification of applications. Most recently, the close collaboration between IBM and the SUSE ISV Engineering team has resulted in the release of Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) created with KIWI ( http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:KIWI ) of multiple IBM platform technologies running on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES 11 SP1). These AMIs provide all the same functionality in the Amazon EC2 cloud as they would if installed on a customers site.

An additonal feature of the DB2 AMIs is that they form a base for several of the other images, and are set up such that ISVs can re-bundle the DB2 images with their own applications for deployment in AWS EC2 with relatively little effort.
