Widely used in science, engineering and industry, High Performance Computing (HPC) is no longer a niche market in the IT world. Now enterprises are interested in leveraging HPC for data-intensive analysis. So it’s  no wonder that, according to IDC, the HPC market will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CARG) of 6.8 to 7.8 percent through 2016.

But who says it has to be tied to big supercomputer projects? This is no longer the case. Using an off-the-shelf Linux operating system―SUSE Linux Enterprise Server ―SGI has demonstrated that you can leave the node memory limits of scale-out computing behind.
