This call to action goes to all of you who use our products and solutions and rely on the information provided with technical documentation: YOUR feedback is crucial for us to get the idea what you REALLY need! Please help us improve – and shape the future of the SUSE documentation. Participate in the Documentation Survey 2021 – for your own benefit!

 

Previous Survey Results

To understand what information is vital to your usage of SUSE products and solutions and what we could do better in future, we heavily depend on you. Thus, during the past two years we have conducted an overarching and extensive documentation survey. And we’ve got a great amount of responses and highly valuable feedback about what we do right, but more importantly, where we can improve and what is missing in our documentation. Below we would like to share some of the results with you:

Make an Impact

You can be sure: Your feedback makes an impact. Our technical writers already started to act upon the survey results of the past two years. They are looking into simplifying the structure of the guides, reducing the use of references and links, keeping relevant guides and chapters always up-to-date, and making SUSE documents easier to find via search engines. They are also working on closing the gap regarding types of documentation that you identified as being missed, such as best practices, how-to’s, troubleshooting documents, integration with other SUSE and with third party products, etc.

 

Share Specific Feedback

To help our technical writers to proceed in a timely manner with these efforts, the SUSE documentation survey 2021 focuses on three products respective product groups: SUSE Manager, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications, and the products of the SUSE Linux Enterprise family.

Now we once again call upon you to get more detailed feedback about the documentation of these products. Please share your insight. Tell us which components of documentation you might be missing, and what can be enhanced, to ensure you get the best information and backing for your daily work.

Meike Chabowski works as Documentation Strategist at SUSE. Before joining the SUSE Documentation team, she was Product Marketing Manager for Enterprise Linux Servers at SUSE, with a focus on Linux for Mainframes, Linux in Retail, and High Performance Computing. Prior to joining SUSE more than 20 years ago, Meike held marketing positions with several IT companies like defacto and Siemens, and was working as Assistant Professor for Mass Media. Meike holds a Master of Arts in Science of Mass Media and Theatre, as well as a Master of Arts in Education from University of Erlangen-Nuremberg/ Germany, and in Italian Literature and Language from University of Parma/Italy.
