YES Certification for SUSE Enterprise Storage 5 reloaded
With the release of SUSE Enterprise Storage 5, the YES Certification team released version 1.1 of its Certification Test Kit for SES which streamlines certification requirements, enhances existing tests, and adds new testing. This updated YES certification Test kit will continue to allow hardware vendors to validate their storage solutions with SES versions 5 or 4.
The base system certification requirement (see this blog for SES Certification requirements) can now be fulfilled with a SLES system bulletin done on the same or previous Service Packs as the SLES version running SES. For example, a system bulletin for SLES 12 SP3, SP2, or SP1 would meet the base system certification requirement for SES 5 which runs on SLES 12 SP3.
The bonding test in the certification kit has been enhanced to verify that the speed of the bond is the sum of the speed of the members when using the recommended link aggregation (802.3ad) or load balancing (balance-xor) bonding modes.
The certification time sync test now allows to keep existing NTP configuration on the SES cluster nodes reducing set up requirements for certification testing.
A new test for Kernel RBD (krbd) creates block devices via Kernel RBD module and exercises those devices via fio tool. This is in addition to block devices created via librbd which are being loaded by Virtual Machines running on a client.
Several SUSE hardware partners have already taken advantage of YES Certification for SES. These solution bulletins are available at https://www.suse.com/yessearch/ In the Hardware/Software Type drop down menu select “SUSE Enterprise Storage Solution”, and click on the green “Search” button.
