SUSE® officially released SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 SP5 on Dec 9, 2019. With this new version of SUSE Linux Enterprise, we also announce the availability of the latest SUSE YES System Certification Kit (SCK), version 8.4. The 8.4 SCK provides certification support for SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 SP5 including Xen and KVM virtualization certification.

The 8.4 SCK continues support for SUSE Linux Enterprise for Arm, SUSE Linux Enterprise for Power, and SUSE Linux Enterprise for z Systems. Certifications for servers, workstations, desktops, laptops, point of service systems, virtualization hosts, and third-party hypervisors are also supported.

Important updates in the new 8.4 SCK version:

  • TestConsole (TC) will continue to require SLES 12 SP4
  • SLE 11 support has been removed
  • Automated TC and VM IP addressing assignment added
  • MCE log query added
  • Enhanced test log identification added

SCK v8.4 also enhances existing certification test modules to better align with SLE 12 SP5 functionality and new CPU and associated HW architectures. Upgrading to the SCK v8.4 will not require new equipment or hardware.

The new 8.4 version of the SCK should be used for all future certification testing beginning immediately. We encourage you to download and install the new version as soon as possible. The new SCK 8.4 ISO is contained in a compressed .zip file which can be downloaded from the public YES System Test Tools for SUSE Linux webpage or from the

SUSE Bulletin System (SBS) opening webpage (requiring a partner login). The 8.4 SCK documentation is available at these download locations. The documentation files are also contained in a compressed .zip file. We strongly recommend that you utilize the SCK documentation for the best experience with the new SCK.

SUSE encourages partners to complete all 8.3 SCK certifications currently in progress then install the 8.4 SCK.

The deadline for submissions with the legacy 8.3 SCK is Jan 31, 2020. After that date no submissions tested with the 8.3 SCK version will be accepted. All SUSE® Linux Enterprise 12 SP5 submissions MUST use SCK 8.4.

Note – General support ends for:

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 12 on Dec 31, 2019.
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP4 on Jun 20, 2020
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP1 on Jun 9, 2020

All SLES 12 SP4 and 15 SP1 certifications must be completed and submitted before July 31, 2020.

With SUSE Linux Enterprise and SCK 8.4 partners have the power to leverage the premier system certification program – SUSE YES Certification. We wish you success as you use these tools and SUSE YES Certification to help increase your product sales opportunities.
