SUSE supports SAP HANA, Express Edition
At SAP TechEd in Las Vegas, SAP announced the availability of SAP HANA, express edition, a streamlined, flexible and fast in-memory platform for next-generation applications. SAP HANA, express edition, allows users to easily get started with SAP HANA, either on a desktop or in the cloud.
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications is the operating environment powering the express edition of SAP HANA. It is optimized for SAP HANA and includes features like built-in high-availability clustering for reduced downtime, automated failover for SAP HANA database, full system rollback including service pack updates for fast error recovery, page cache limit and much more.
You can download and install SAP HANA, express edition, either as a virtual machine which includes SUSE Linux Enterprise for SAP Applications or as a binary installation package for all supported Linux environments. SAP HANA, express edition, is also available in the cloud via SAP cloud appliance library (CAL) for AWS/Azure.

SAP HANA, express edition, includes up to 32GB for free and selects in-memory platform features that enable SAP HANA to run on a personal computer. The express edition is available to enable developers to start for free or upgrade for a fee if needed. Support will be available via the developer community.
SUSE and SAP have worked together since 2011 to improve the scalability and high availability of SAP HANA. In fact, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications is the recommended and supported OS for SAP HANA, currently running in thousands of SAP HANA installations, including SAP’s own.
Does this mean that there will also be a “developer” SLES for SAP available? – if we go for the binary installer.
Yes, it is a developer edition available. In order to obtain maintenance/updates, you have to register for membership in SUSE’s PartnerNet program
