SAP Appliances and Linux Support on Azure Have One Thing in Common – SUSE
For those enterprises looking to run test and production Linux workloads on Microsoft Azure, including workloads like the SAP HANA Developers Edition, SUSE is once again collaborating with major partners to ensure the performance, reliability and stability these customers expect on premise is delivered in the cloud. What does that mean? Only SUSE is providing Linux technical support for Microsoft Azure customers. And only SUSE provides the operating platform for SAP Cloud Appliance Library (CAL) running on Microsoft Azure.
Recently, Microsoft has made several announcements about new options that make life easier for enterprises moving to Microsoft Azure. As part of the news, customers deploying SUSE Linux Enterprise Server workloads on Microsoft Azure can now receive 24×7 worldwide technical support directly from SUSE. What’s more, customers can purchase SUSE support directly from Microsoft as part of their Enterprise Agreements. This approach offers enterprises the best of all possible worlds. Microsoft customers receive a seamless purchasing experience for their organizations’ cloud computing needs while also being able to confidently run the most interoperable Linux, knowing that if there are any issues they can receive expert support even in the cloud.
SUSE has a long history of working with Microsoft to help deliver a simple path to the cloud. Using SUSE Studio™, enterprises can easily build customizable application and OS images, then in one click deploy them into Microsoft Azure in a matter of minutes. SUSE Manager can then update, configure and monitor these Linux workloads running in Azure, making sure they are secure and deliver optimal performance. To achieve greater levels of interoperability, SUSE and Microsoft have integrated SUSE Manager and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager through the SUSE Management Pack for Microsoft System Center. With this integration enterprise customers can manage both Windows and Linux through a single pane of glass whether the workloads are running in the data center or in the cloud.
That’s not all. Microsoft and SAP announced their support for SAP CAL on Microsoft Azure. SAP CAL offers enterprises a simple and fast way to deploy SAP workloads. SUSE and SAP have partnered to optimize SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as the standard image for preconfigured SAP solutions in the SAP Cloud Appliance Library. The integration of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and the SAP Cloud Appliance Library delivers a unified automated installation process that reduces deployment time and speeds time-to-value for SAP systems. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Cloud Appliance Library offers a highly-reliable, scalable and secure operating system for deploying mission-critical SAP solutions running in Microsoft Azure.
