As part of the commitment SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud (HEC) will be available on Microsoft Azure which allows customers to run SAP S/4HANA in a secure, managed cloud. Additionally, Microsoft will deploy SAP S/4HANA on Azure and SAP will deploy key internal business critical systems to Azure.

The transition to S/4HANA is an import step for many SAP customers. SAP HANA as well as S/4HANA are running on Linux and customers want to make sure they have got the same performance and functionality in the public cloud as on premises.

As mentioned in a Microsoft blog (German), SAP customers are desirous to implement S/4HANA on Linux, which is an important reason for the relationship between SAP and Mircosoft. Azure has been optimal designed for SUSE Linux, which will provide the best performance for S/4HANA.

Implementing SAP HANA on the Azure cloud using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications provides stable environments for SAP environments that achieve bare-metal performance and reliability.
