Linux Foundation Fellowship Program selects SUSE engineering talent

Today, The Linux Foundation announced that Greg Kroah-Hartman is joining the organization as Fellow among a distinguished group of software developers that maintain Linux at the kernel level.

We here at SUSE are excited about this announcement for many reasons. Having worked with Greg for over five years at SUSE, I’ve had the privilege to experience first hand his passion, brilliance and even-handed approach to advancing the stability of the Linux kernel. This new role is a deserving and natural progression for Greg’s exceptional talent and career.

Greg’s new appointment is also a positive move for the open source industry.  In 2011 —  Linux’s 20th anniversary —  we had a chance to celebrate and reflect on the progress Linux has made toward becoming a trusted foundation upon which well-known, enterprise organizations rely on to run successful businesses. Part of that progress is a direct effect of the Linux Foundation Fellowship Program. Allotting the talents of people such as Greg is more important than ever to meet the accelerating development, growth, and diverse use cases of Linux in the marketplace for the next 20 years.

At SUSE we look forward to continuing our steadfast work as a strong contributing member to both the Linux kernel and Linux-related technologies.  By working together, Linux will continue to remain the most trusted, high-quality operating platform in the market.
