Sometimes the work that SUSE’s technology accomplishes will stand out on its own, such as with SUSE Studio or SUSE Cloud. And sometimes the success will be found in our close work with partners.

SUSE has always been keeping a long-term and close partnership with telecom giant Huawei, and one example of that partnership is SUSE’s full support for Huawei’s third-generation, carrier-grade application platform, Advanced Telecommunications Application Environment (ATAE) 3.0, which was recently launched by Huawei.

This is important work, because telecommunication vendors are are confronted with challenges posed by ever-rising total costs of ownership and constantly declining returns on investment.

Add to that the challenge of telecommunication infrastructure shifting from traditionally discrete architectures for stand-alone products and solutions to a more heterogeneous hardware convergence, vertical integration of business environment,  and clouds computing, and you can see why stable technologies in this sector are more important than ever.

It is in this environment that Huawei rolled out the ATAE integrated hardware and software platform for telecommunications applications. The ATAE platform integrates functional modules like operating systems, servers, storage devices, middleware and unified management systems.

With various hardware, solid RAS solutions and centralized, visible and automatic management systems, ATAE is designed to provide business with infrastructure service with more performance, reliability and manageability so as to give flexible support to business systems under a variety of  scenarios.

We can’t help but be excited when we say that SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is Huawei’s optimized Linux OS for ATAE. Huawei recognizes the strengths of SUSE that have been stated all along: outstanding collaboration ability and ease to integrate with different components.

It’s been over eight years since the partnership between SUSE and Huawei started, when Huawei released ATAE 1.0. By taking advantage of its deep understanding of Huawei’s business, SUSE has been giving steady product and overall service support to ATAE solutions the whole time, facilitating the global promotion of the company’s ATAE solutions.

Huawei announced ATAE 3.0 at its recent At HCC2013 conference, and SUSE is still there, continuing to safeguard the reliable operation of the next-generation ATAE platform with its proven product performance.

This is what SUSE does best: enabling partners like Huawei and customers to build the products and services they want on top of a stable and superior OS, configuring enterprise Linux to meet the needs of the customer, and not the other way around.
