After installing OpenSUSE 12.1 I found out that I no longer had desktop icons. I could no longer right click on the desktop to bring up a menu to change my desktop background or open a terminal.

This article will show you how to bring back those options you have been missing.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Click on “Activities” in the top left corner or press the windows key.
  2. Click on the “Applications” tab and then select “Advanced Settings”.
  3. Select “Desktop” from the left hand menu.
  4. Turn “on” all in the list.

Now the desktop still has all the new cool features in addition to being able to use the desktop icons and having the right click menu.
