HDS Shows How to Save Hours Patching SAP HANA

We’ve been working with HDS for some time now in regards to SAP HANA solutions.  As a company, HDS understands how to efficiently deliver SAP and SAP HANA to clients around the globe.  At this week’s TechEd & d-Code show, they stepped it up a notch by adding SUSE Manager to the mix.  This addition of SUSE Manager to SAP HANA environments can save many hours when it comes to patching the systems or determining if your systems are vulnerable to the latest security threat.

For those of you who don’t know, SUSE Manager is the tool that SUSE provides to our customers to patch their enterprise Linux environments.  These environments are not limited to just SUSE, but can include other Linux distributions as well.  The tool provides the ability to deploy, monitor, manage, and report on the enterprise environment.  For those shops that use Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, you can even hook SUSE Manager to SCOM and allow all your monitoring and patching to take place from the SCOM environment.

Take a look at Generosa Litton’s blog where they talk with Sean Siegmund with the demo running in the background.  I’d like to publicly thank Generosa for posting the video and Sean for setting up the demo!  Well done!

Coming from MS world, why integrate a 3rd party patching tool into SCOM rather than SCCM?
