Did you know that as part of your SUSECON registration we are offering complimentary certification exams?  Yes…you heard right: if you’re attending SUSECON 2016 you can take SUSE Linux certification exams FOR FREE!  When you choose to become a SUSE® Certified Administrator or SUSE Certified Engineer as part of the SUSE Certification programs, you are joining a community of over 22,000 professionals who understand the value of certification and SUSE Certification helps you understand the material, apply your knowledge in a production environment and increase on-the-job effectiveness.

This year we’re offering three new exams and two returning.

New Exams

OpenStack Foundation’s Certified OpenStack Administrator (COA) exam

This is an industry-recognized certification from the OpenStack Foundation and is the first step to gaining the SUSE Certified Administrator in OpenStack Cloud certification. This certification will test the baseline skills of an OpenStack Administrator, a person who provides day-to-day operation and management of an OpenStack cloud. Customers may register for only one Certified OpenStack Administrator exam slot during the week.

SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA) in Enterprise Storage

This certification is designed for storage administrators who have become familiar with the SUSE Enterprise Storage software-defined storage solution. This certification displays your fundamental knowledge of SUSE Enterprise Storage, based on the ceph open source project, and your ability to properly install a SUSE Enterprise Storage cluster and accomplish typical administration and monitoring tasks. Customers may register for only one SCA in Enterprise Storage exam slot during the week.

SUSE Certified Administrator (COA) in Systems Management

This certification is designed for Linux administrators who have become familiar with SUSE Manager 3. This certification displays your fundamental knowledge of SUSE Manager, including how to install and configure SUSE Manager 3, register servers to SUSE Manager, use Salt configuration management and perform other basic system management tasks using SUSE Manager 3. Customers may register for only one SCA in Systems Management exam slot during the week.

Returning Exams

SUSE Certified Administrator in Enterprise Linux (SCA)

This certification replaces the Certified Linux Administrator (CLA) and is designed for SUSE Linux Enterprise system administrators who have become familiar with the SLES operating system. This certification displays your fundamental knowledge of the Linux operating system and your ability to properly administer SLES at a basic level. If you have a CLA for version 11 or 12, you already have the equivalent SCA and do not need to retake this exam for that version. Customers may register for only one SCA in Enterprise Linux exam slot during the week.

SUSE Certified Engineer in Enterprise Linux (SCE)

This certification replaces the Certified Linux Professional (CLP) 11 and is designed for those who already have experience with SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 including general system configuration and command line work. It will cover advanced administration skills on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 and is for those who have already passed the CLA 11 exam or the SUSE Certified Administrator in Enterprise Linux 11 exam. If you have a CLP for version 11, you already have the equivalent SCE and do not need to retake this exam for that version. Customers may register for only one SCE in Enterprise Linux exam slot during the week.
