Edge > Core > Cloud: Transform the Way You Want

For more than 25 years, SUSE has been very successful in delivering enterprise-grade Linux to our customers. And as IT infrastructure has shifted and evolved, so have we. For instance, we enabled and supported the move to software-defined data centers as virtualization and containerization technologies became more prevalent and data growth demanded a new approach.

Today, however, it’s not just about the data center anymore. Enterprises increasingly need computing solutions that go from the edge to the core to the cloud, and SUSE is committed to helping you deploy and manage seamlessly across those models. That’s why we’ve expanded even further to provide new hybrid and multicloud capabilities as well as innovative application delivery solutions—which means that you now have the power to transform your infrastructure and your applications the way you want, when you want. And support your customers in new ways, where and how they need it.

Delivering seamless performance from the edge to the core to the cloud relies on two important elements: software-defined infrastructure (SDI) and an application delivery (AD) platform.

With the right SDI, you get a consistent platform across computing models, plus the enterprise resiliency and scale you need to grow and transform as your needs change. You also get simplified solution deployment and valuable governance and management throughout the solution’s entire lifecycle.

The AD platform is critical to seamless computing. It should support all of your applications, whether traditional or cloud native. It should provide a range of tools to help you adapt to evolving business requirements, and it should allow you to centrally manage your entire app ecosystem, from edge to core to cloud as well.

As SUSE, we offer both SDI solutions and AD platforms that deliver powerful performance and keep you in control. Our approach uses technology that is open source first and container first. We make it easy to create, deploy and manage applications and workloads on premises in your data center as well as in hybrid and multicloud environments. Let’s take a look at a few of the components that make this possible .

SUSE Cloud Application Platform 1.4

Available as of April 2019, SUSE Cloud Application Platform 1.4 is a modern application delivery platform that brings an advanced cloud native developer experience to Kubernetes—the de facto standard for enterprise container orchestration. The platform eliminates manual IT configuration and helps accelerate innovation by getting applications to market faster. Developers can serve themselves and get apps to the cloud in minutes instead of weeks, while staying within IT guidelines, and without relying on scarce IT resources to perform manual configuration each step of the way. The latest release introduces a 100-percent-Kubernetes-native Cloud Foundry architecture and increases multicloud flexibility with new support for Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

Kubernetes Certified Service Provider

To provide exceptional support and service to enterprises using SUSE Cloud Application Platform and SUSE Container-as-a-Service (CaaS) Platform application delivery solutions, SUSE is now a Kubernetes Certified Service Provider (KCSP). The KCSP program is a pre-qualified tier of vetted service providers that have deep experience helping enterprises successfully adopt Kubernetes.

SUSE OpenStack Cloud 9

Also available since April 2019 is SUSE’s latest enterprise-ready OpenStack Cloud platform. It is the first release to integrate the best of SUSE OpenStack Cloud and HPE OpenStack technology into one, single-branded release. SUSE OpenStack Cloud 9 helps you:

  • Enhance business agility by simplifying post-deployment cloud operations using the new Cloud Lifecycle Manager day-two user interface.
  • Seamlessly transition to SUSE OpenStack Cloud from end-of-life HPE Helion OpenStack for a mature, stable and robust production-ready private cloud.
  • Simplify the transition of traditional workloads through enhanced support for OpenStack Ironic, with the ability to customize bare metal servers for specific workload performance and use case needs.

Rely on SUSE to Better Support Your Customers

As your need grows for computing solutions that span the edge to the core data center to the cloud, SUSE is dedicated to supporting you with the solutions that enable efficient deployment and management in every environment. That means you can undergo digital transformation in your own way, as quickly or as deliberately as you need to—and develop innovations when, where and how your customers demand.
