Day 1 at SUSECON 2016
Big Launch Day at SUSECON
Today was our big launch day so it’s been very exciting here…
Michael Miller, President of Alliances and Marketing and the host of SUSECON, welcomed everyone to SUSECON 2016 and introduced the theme of Day 1, ‘Time to Transform,’ and how SUSE, along with its broad partner ecosystem can help with the continuous improvement of IT infrastructure.
Alongside the opening keynote, SUSE made the following announcements:
- SUSE Poised for Greater Growth in Software-Defined Storage Market by Acquiring openATTIC Storage Management Assets from it-novum
- SUSE Extends Partner Software Certification for Cloud and Storage Customers
- New SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 Service Pack 2 Speeds Innovation with Reliability
- SUSE Enterprise Storage 4 Solves Large Data Storage Dilemma for Customers
- SUSE Honors Customers of the Year for IT Transformation, Business Agility and Business Continuity
The first guest on Stage was Nils Brauckmann, CEO, SUSE who gave an update on the business and talked about the steady growth and momentum that SUSE has had over the last 12 months.
Michael also welcomed Scott Farrand, VP of Platform Servers, HPE to talk about their shared vision with SUSE and long-term partnership. They also discussed HPE’s focus on Modernizing IT and how SUSE is their key Open Source partner to make this happen for their customers. Conversation then turned to SAP HANA and the Storage Revolution where both companies have teamed up to drive powerful customer solutions.
We then stopped briefly for a quick dance to the latest SUSE Song… gave a brief Technology Teaser, and passed out Raspberry Pie’s to a few lucky attendees (though everyone will get one at the Demopalooza on Friday)
Michael announced the SUSE Customer of the Year winners
After the keynote, there was much excitement as everyone scuttled off to the first of the 150 sessions and to reconvene later for a party in the Technology Showcase.
