After the upgrade from vSphere 4.0x to vSphere 4.1 or ESXi 4 to ESXi4.1 apache on a OES 2 server wouldn’t start with the error: apache2 could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:631 after vSphere upgrade

As you all probably know TCP port 631 is for IPP print, or for us Novell guy’s iPrint. iPrint is started with apache (the website that is). But if iPrint cannot start, apache wouldn’t start also. So what’s blocking TCP port 631?

Migration from NetWare 6.5 SP7 to SLES10SP2-OES2SP1 Hiccup

After doing a pre-migration of a Volume from NetWare 6.5 SP7 to SLES10-SP2 w/ OES2-SP1 all of the file structures appeared to be correct. We did this “Pre-migration” in order to copy the bulk of our user files prior to doing a final sync and pointing to the new volume on the new server. But after the sync, we found that some of the source files and the destination files had the EXACT same size, creation date, and modified date, but the content was different. Here is how it went down.
