In the 2001 film “Training Day”, Denzel Washington gave an incredible performance as Alonzo Harris, a corrupt police officer in Los Angeles. One of his most memorable quotes from the movie is this; “It’s not what you know; it’s what you can prove.”
Well, that’s about as far as the analogy goes, but at SUSECON we’re out to make sure that you know it AND that you can prove it! Everyone knows that SUSECON brings you incredible technical content. We help stretch your mind and introduce you to new technologies that have real-world implications and make life better for IT professionals. But how can you prove that you learned something? By getting a professional certification!

At SUSECON, we make SUSE’s professional industry certifications available to our attendees as a benefit of their registration. Not some watered-down version of an exam to get you a deputy-IT badge, but the real deal! Here’s a list of the certification exams that will be available to SUSECON attendees this year:

  • OpenStack Foundation’s Certified OpenStack Administrator (COA) exam
  • SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA) in Enterprise Storage exam
  • SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA) in Systems Management exam
  • SUSE Certified Engineer (SCE) in OpenStack Cloud exam
  • SUSE Certified Engineer (SCE) in Enterprise Storage exam
  • SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA) in Enterprise Linux 2017 update exam (with the new hands-on testing method that replaces the question-based exam)
  • SUSE Certified Engineer (SCE) in Enterprise Linux exam (replaces the CLP 11 and 12)

Free certification exams will be held each day of the main conference, Tuesday, 25 September–Friday, 28 September. All exam times will be available on the Session Scheduler (available August 9) and can be scheduled at the same time you schedule your breakout sessions and hands-on training.

Exam sessions fill up fast so be sure to check the Scheduler by mid-August to get the time slot you want! And remember that exam scheduling closes on September 19.

If you want to see a little more, check out this video I shot while in Prague, live from the SUSECON 2017 venue. I’m no Denzel Washington, to be sure, but I know what I can prove!
