Protecting spreadsheet cells in 2.0 Calc

When coworkers use a spreadsheet you’ve created, you may only want to give them permission to modify some cells. You can protect the cells you don’t want modifed by following this tip.

  1. Select all the data in your spreadsheet.
  2. Select Format | Cells.
  3. Click the Cell Protection tab.
  4. Uncheck the Protected box.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Select only the cells you want to protect.
  7. Select Format | Cells.
  8. Click the Cell Protection tab.
  9. Check the Protected box.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Click anywhere in the spreadsheet to deselect the selected cells.
  12. Select Tools | Protect Document | Sheet.
  13. Enter a password.
  14. Confirm the password.
  15. Click OK.
