MonoTouch allows developers to create C# and .NET-based applications that run on Apple's iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices, while taking advantage of the iPhone APIs and reusing both code and libraries that have been built for .NET, as well as existing skills.
MonoTouch is a software development kit for Mac OS X users to create native apps for the Apple iPhone and Apple iPod Touch devices with .NET programming languages. MonoTouch allows developers to use the .NET framework (along with more efficient programming languages, such as C#), to create iPhone apps that take advantage of native iPhone APIs.
By allowing developers to reuse code and libraries that have been written for .NET, as well as leverage existing .NET skills, MonoTouch helps increase productivity and reduce time to market. Developers can test MonoTouch apps on the both iPhone Simulator and physical hardware, and can distribute MonoTouch apps via the Apple App Store.
Professional Edition
If you plan to develop iPhone or iPod Touch apps for distribution on the Apple App Store, and you are the only individual planning to use that license, then MonoTouch Professional Edition is right for you. Your non-transferable license entitles you to one year of MonoTouch updates, and distribution of apps built with MonoTouch on the Apple App Store.
Enterprise Edition
If your organization plans to develop apps for enterprise deployment, or for distribution on the Apple App Store, then MonoTouch from SUSE—Enterprise Edition is right for you. This license, owned by a legal entity for use by one developer at any given time, provides one year of MonoTouch updates, and allows enterprise deployments of MonoTouch apps, as well as the distribution of apps built with MonoTouch via the Apple App Store.
Enterprise Edition (5 Developer)
If you are a larger organization, and you plan to develop apps for enterprise deployment, or for distribution on the Apple App Store, then MonoTouch Enterprise Edition (5 Developer Pack) may be right for you. This license allows the concurrent use of MonoTouch for up to 5 developers. It entitles the organization to one year of MonoTouch updates, allows enterprise deployments of MonoTouch apps, as well as the distribution of apps built with MonoTouch on the Apple App Store.
