SUSE LINUX Software Development Kit 9 (SDK9)

What is the SUSE LINUX SDK9?

The SUSE LINUX SDK9 is a comprehensive development toolkit that is designed to support Developers, Independent Hardware and Software Vendors to develop applications on and/or port them to SUSE LINUX. It is an add-on product and requires SUSE LINUX Server 9 to run. The multi-platform capability of SDK9 ensures the availability of nearly all tools on all SUSE LINUX Server platforms. Its most important features are Integrated Development Environments (IDE), libraries, support of major programming languages and additional development tools.

Why is the SUSE LINUX SDK9 necessary?

The common codebase of SDK9 allows Developers to use the same package on different platforms. The benefit for you: The platform on which you develop your software is the same you support your products to your customers and you certify against. This gives you the opportunity to increase the efficiency of your software development process. What are the features of the SUSE LINUX SDK9?

SDK9's multi-platform capability allows it to operate on all supported SUSE LINUX Server platforms (x86, AMD64, Intel© Extended Memory 64 Technology, Itanium Processor Family, IBM i/pSeries, IBM S/390 and IBM zSeries) and it is based on Linux kernel 2.6 and glibc 2.3. The inclusion of many different IDEs, namely Eclipse, kDevelop3, Quanta, anjunta, eric and xslide guarantees the versatility of SDK9. Among all supported programming languages, the focus is set on C/C++, Java, Perl, Python, PHP, HTML and YCP (YaST control protocol). Finally, various different development tools such as project management tools, debuggers or versioning tools complement the SDK9 package.

Where do I get the SUSE LINUX SDK9?

SUSE LINUX currently offers a beta version of SDK9 with the final release scheduled for the beginning of the second half of this year. Downloading the SUSE LINUX SDK9 early will give you a competitive edge as it allows you to start developing applications on and/or porting them to SUSE LINUX enterprise platforms right away.
